By chance, are you a talented documentarian? Or maybe you are skilled in the art of motion graphics?
If you make beautiful, unique videos, we have a new way for you to get involved.
Make a short video about how climate change is impacting you, and we will show select entries on September 14 and 15 during the live stream of 24 Hours of Reality.
We are looking for videos under 3 minutes long that tell an original story about the impact of climate change. Think about: How is climate change affecting your life? Your community? Your health? Do you have compelling footage of a change in your city?
Including your video in our live stream is a great way to get noticed and a creative way to show you care about this global, manmade problem.
To get started and inspired, take a look at the videos that have already been submitted. To be considered, join our Vimeo group and upload your video. Submissions are due by August 30, 2011.

We have destroyed our climate and our lands, the effect of climate change is evident in barometric pressure amongst other things. It effects health, immune systems, and people in ways that are not necessarily even considered.
Economic underdeveloped countries are suffering, as we all are no matter what part of the world we live in…hopefully the damage is not too far gone and that we as a human race can change or reverse things for the betterment of our society and world. 1 citizen, 1action, a little at a time, collectively we can do something to change what needs to be changed.

I’m giving my first-hand account of several storms that plummeted Missouri when I was back there on my vacation to take donations to Joplin (and surrounding area donation sites) to give some help to Joplin, MO for the storm that they went through in May of 2011. People cannot be into so much denial about Joplin which took the lives of 160 people on a Sunday afternoon, and they don’t even know the total dead in the 6-1/2 mile by mile wide swath of destruction left by the Category Five Tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri. They are still cleaning up and just beginning to rebuild. It hasn’t even been finished, but FEMA finished paying the 95% commitment just last week for six months of cleanup, and now the federal government will pay 75% of the clearing and loading of debris, with the remaining 25% being paid by the state of Missouri. I was so surprised by the amount of total devastation, probable homelessness, wrecked businesses, and loss of several hospitals, including one regional hospital, which I believe was St. John’s and there were also several medical centers surrounding the hospitals, all the doctors’ offices and homes of doctors and nurses that were totally lost. Some people just packed up and left, others were absorbed into neighboring communities, others are now in FEMA trailers, and still others are doubling up with friends and relatives. There were so many people displaced and even in the houses that are still standing some are not fit to live in yet. I don’t ever want to hear that there is no global warming, because of the weather effects on us. We have seen the number of strong tropical and subtropical storms which have caused massive distruction to the people of the South. It isn’t just Joplin. It is a number of Southern cities that are virtually being rebuilt from the ground up. There is also a major drought going on in the Southern United States, and also on the continents of Africa. There are a LOT of earthquakes going on in the earth’s Southern Hemisphere, and major electrical storms happening in Venazuela. I don’t think denial is going to help anything. We have to monitor our carbon emissions, not only to avoid polluting the earth, but also to prevent further warming of the earth. Thanks for reading this. I have plenty of snapshots of Joplin, and the surrounding area drought.

Concerned citizen is right on: 1 citizen, 1 action, a little at a time, collectively we can do something to change what needs to be changed. Together we make a powerful difference, and looking forward to your showing of ‘citizen’ videos about how climate change is impacting our lives – our stories motivate and enable each of us to be part of the solution.
