Thanks to the ease and fun brought by social networks like Twitter and Facebook, there is a lot of chatter out there on the interwebs. According to Twitter’s blog, users post about 200 million tweets per day. So here at The Climate Reality Project we were faced with a challenge: How can we get our message to rise above the noise? Once we put our heads together, the answer was simple: YOU.

If you’ve been reading my blog posts, you know there are a lot of ways you can get involved. But today I’d like to announce the coolest one yet.

You can donate your Tweets and Facebook posts to 24 Hours of Reality. This is a pretty new concept, so let me explain.

We have created an innovative tool that allows you to donate your accounts to the cause. This means if you choose to donate, we’ll temporarily be able to access your account to help you post information about the event to your friends and followers. Your donation starts on Sept. 13 and ends on Sept. 15 when the event is over.

We will only post content related to climate change and the event. We definitely see the privilege you would be granting us and we will treat it that way.

You will still be able to use your account and post your own content, and we will only post updates and important details a few times each hour. And if this whole thing doesn’t work for you, you can revoke our access at anytime.

Donate here.

Why should you do this? Because you are our voice. And if we want to make sure this event grabs the world’s attention, we need your help. As the donations heat up, we’ll update you on our “reach” on our site. By “reach” we mean how many people we reach with the combined Twitter and Facebook networks of everyone involved.

“If we want to share the truth about the climate crisis, we need your help.”

Will you be sharing the truth about animal agriculture’s harmful effect on climate change and let people know that by elimination or greatly reducing their consumption of animal products, they can make a huge impact in the fight against global warming?

If we wish green energy to be the future, now is the time to do it.Renewable energy must be made to be a job creator.Once it becomes a positive economic force the fight over, “global warming”, will become far less contentious. As I see it, the best way forward may be smaller scale projects for individual home owners.Electricity cost are rising nationwide. Strong storms often knock grid delivered electricity off-line.We must develop a service something like a “cable subscription contract” where equipment can be installed professionally, and leased or bought over time with, (affordable), monthly payments. If you can deliver savings over utility cost and better reliability. You may have a market money maker and job creator.I think it’s possible with the newer battery technology and better solar and wind products to tailor a package beneficial to the individual homeowner . Along with installation of energy conservation measures this may offer an end run around the usual roadblocks

I been telling people about climate change since the 70′s . I now worry about living on the coast, because I belive polar cap melting will happen in my life time. I am a vegan for more than one reason. Most people are unawere of the gasses animal agriculture causes. To say nothing of the land use impact. Loss of grasses ,trees, wildlife and water.

I’d really like to know more details about this action. While I almost never use Facebook or Twitter, I’m still very hesitant to allow them to be used in anyway by anyone else. Give me more details about what it means to “donate” my account, so I can consider it.

Al’s on the right track here for sure. You can tell because of the reaction from the corporate-sponsored denialists. We’ve got their goat now.

I originally wanted to donate my time learning and doing these presentaions, but my voice wasn’t needed then. However, I will consider this if I get more information on just how you will access Twitter acounts. Oh, and water.org does this as well.
