Time to talk dirty! (about the weather, that is)

October 1, 2012 | 9:30 am | , Writer and Editor

We have a live, online broadcast coming up on November 14 called 24 Hours of Reality: The Dirty Weather Report. Over 24 hours, we plan to share with the world how dirty weather in a warming climate is affecting our lives. And we need your help!

We invite you to pull out your camera (or your smart phone) and send us a video telling us your story about how climate change and extreme weather are impacting you and your community.

Your story can be heartbreaking, funny or anything in between. Varying production values, from home videos shot on cell phones and webcams, to fully produced shorts, are welcome and encouraged.

Some of the stories we’ve been hearing already include:

  • Home owners whose property has been damaged by extreme weather
  • Business owners affected by reduced tourism
  • Hunters or anglers affected by shrinking rivers
  • Farmers encountering drought and smaller crops
If your video is chosen for this year’s 24 Hours of Reality, millions of people around the world will hear your story! We’ll also have limited-edition 24 Hours of Reality gifts as tokens of our appreciation.

If you’d like to participate, here’s what to do. Upload your 1-5-minute video sharing your extreme weather story to YouTube or another video hosting site, and email a link to The deadline for submission is midnight (PST) on October 26. For more information, click here.

Help us reveal the complete truth about the climate crisis. Submit a video to 24 Hours of Reality: The Dirty Weather Report — and don’t forget to tune in on November 14.
