Statement from Ken Berlin, Climate Reality President & CEO, on Trump Administration’s Latest Environmental Executive Order

“Let's call it what it is: This is what systemic racism looks like.

“In a rush to clear the way for fossil fuel development, the Trump Administration is further trampling on the rights of frontline communities who are calling for an end to the profound pain and mistreatment they've endured in our country.

“We know that black, brown, indigenous, and low-income communities too often live in the shadows of pipelines, power plants, and other facilities that disproportionately expose them to dangerous levels of pollution that cause devastating health conditions. These communities depend on the public comment and environmental review processes to make their voices heard. Undermining them during an unprecedented global pandemic – and as the nation reckons with its centuries-long history of violence against the Black community  – doesn’t just go against fundamental American values of democracy and transparency. It upholds systemic racism and is irresponsible, dangerous, and just plain wrong.”
