Mayor, City of Paris

SHARE

Anne Hidalgo made history in 2014 as the first female mayor of Paris. Born in Spain, she holds a master’s degree in social law and began her career as a labor inspector. Re-elected in 2020, Hidalgo leads the left-wing coalition aiming to transform Paris into a zero-carbon city by 2050. She was instrumental in securing Paris’s bid for the 2024 Olympic Games, which will drive urban and environmental changes. Hidalgo's policies prioritize housing, inclusive public services, and environmental protection, focusing on reducing car use and enhancing public spaces. Notably, she took a symbolic swim in the Seine in 2024, celebrating its cleanliness.
