Position Summary 

The Digital Mobilization Associate is responsible for writing and building email campaigns and broadcast SMS, answering inquiries from supporters, assisting in email targeting and list segmentation, and supporting the management of activist records in Climate Reality’s customer relationship management (CRM) system. They will collaborate cross-departmentally and within the Digital team to launch digital advocacy actions on our website and coordinate supporter journeys for our general audiences, chapter members, and trained leaders across digital platforms. 

Currently reporting to the Digital Mobilization Senior Manager, the Digital Mobilization Associate has no direct reports.   

This position is within a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment will be subject to a collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union. 

This is a full time, non-exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position. The Climate Reality Project offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with staff working from our office in downtown Washington, DC at least two days per week to enable and encourage collaboration within and among teams. The salary range for this role is $55,293.72 - $56,399.59 USD per year.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Write well-researched and engaging emails, newsletters, advocacy campaign content, landing pages, blogs, text alerts, and other content created to inspire our audience to act on climate.  
  • Assist with targeting emails and building list segmentation for Climate Reality Leaders, chapter members, and general supporters on Climate Reality’s email and SMS lists. 
  • Build email and SMS campaigns using EveryAction with relevant audience segmentation. 
  • Build advocacy-related web forms and assist with basic Drupal website production for digital engagement purposes. 
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on digital advocacy and engagement; produce reports, dashboards, and build queries that accurately meet the criteria outlined by internal clients, as well as help to define those criteria. 
  • Support the overall management of our email list and online membership data and relevant work to keep good list hygiene and best practices. 
  • Keep up with email best practices, including deliverability, CAN-SPAM, segmentation, supporter lifecycles, drip/triggered messages and using email testing and rendering tools. 
  • Assist with our customer service program in Helpdesk, including responding to tickets, reporting on trends and defects identified by tickets, and updating our FAQ and canned responses on a regular basis 
  • Conduct strategic A/B tests to optimize performance of our email and SMS outreach. 
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture (i.e., by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices)

Required Skills and Abilities  

  • Familiarity with the Salesforce database and EveryAction 
  • Familiarity with and desire to learn more about email best practices, including formatting, deliverability and spam, testing, and metrics 
  • Talent for writing clear and compelling email, web, and SMS copy 
  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated 
  • Excellent attention to detail, working knowledge of quality control processes and procedures, demonstrated ability to identify and solve complex problems independently 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with relational database and spreadsheet programs 
  • Interest in organizing and engaging a sustained supporter base 
  • A deep care for both climate change and environmental justice and a yearning to work to solve the climate crisis and create a healthy and equitable future for all. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required  

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field — or equivalent experience 
  • 1-2 years of experience working in customer relationship management (CRM) systems.  
  • Demonstrated experience with email marketing software, such as EveryAction, ActionNetwork, Engaging Networks, or similar 
  • Experience with customer service and success
