Federica Fricano

Director of EU Affairs, Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security; Co-Chair, G7 Climate and Energy

Federica Fricano is director of EU affairs in the environment sector and international strategies on sustainable development and climate at the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security. She is a geologist with a master’s in environmental sciences, with over 25 years of professional experience, mainly in international negotiations concerning conventions and protocols in the field of chemical substances, products control, and climate change, as well as EU directives and regulations and their implementation at national level. In 2021, she was co-chair of the G20 Climate Change Sustainability Working Group, which led to the adoption of the G20 Energy and Climate Communiqué. In 2024, Federica was appointed as co-chair of G7 Climate and Energy.
