Washington, DC (June 16, 2023) – The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit climate action organization founded in 2006 by former US Vice President Al Gore, will host a Climate Reality Leadership Training from August 19 to 20 in Seoul, Korea. This event is part of the Climate Reality Project’s series of global training programs that aim to educate and equip advocates with the tools they need to effectively advance climate solutions.

The two-day training will highlight South Korea’s potential to demonstrate global leadership on climate. Attendees will hear from former Vice President Gore and Korean experts on opportunities to strengthen sustainability across sectors, from policy to business and beyond. Training sessions will include discussions on how climate-smart policies can support a just transition away from fossil fuels, will highlight opportunities for businesses to pursue zero-carbon practices, and will feature capacity-building workshops on a variety of climate advocacy tools.

“South Korea has tremendous potential to be a global leader in implementing the climate solutions that Korean innovation has helped to develop. Now is the time to turn that potential into action,” said former US Vice President Gore. “People of all backgrounds can play a role in driving an increase in climate ambition that will allow Korea to hasten its transition away from fossil fuels, spur a new economic boom, increase energy security, and create a more just and sustainable society.”

South Korea's remarkably rapid development has earned it international recognition as one of the most dynamic and innovative countries on the planet. Now, facing the urgent threat of the climate crisis, South Korea has the chance to write a new chapter in its incredible story, showing the world what it means to be a global leader on climate and successfully transition a powerhouse economy from fossil fuels to clean energy.

Through this training on topics relevant to South Korea, participants will receive a best-in-class education in climate science, impacts, and solutions, along with the tools to organize and advocate for change in their schools, workplaces, and communities.

Upon completion of the training, participants will join Climate Reality’s global network of climate advocates around the world, including business leaders, elected officials, entrepreneurs, concerned citizens, and students dedicated to bold, ambitious climate action.

The training will be offered in Korean and English.
