Al Gore To Galvanize Global Coalition Of Aspiring Climate Activists Ahead Of Cop26 Summit
Washington, DC (August 18, 2021) — Registration is now open for The Climate Reality Project’s 48th Climate Reality Leadership Corps training, an online program to educate and activate aspiring climate advocates.
Led by former US Vice President Al Gore, the free virtual training will connect climate activists across the globe and equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to build an inclusive and equitable movement for climate action and solutions.
As global leaders prepare for the COP26 negotiations in Glasgow, Scotland this Fall, the world stands at a crossroads in the fight against the climate crisis. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s dire Sixth Assessment Report emphasized the urgency of a global shift away from fossil fuels and highlighted the narrowing pathway to limiting global temperature rise to 1.5℃. With intense wildfires, floods, drought, extreme heat, and severe weather already impacting communities around the world and driving worsening inequality, the need for just, equitable climate solutions has never been greater.
“COP26 is a mission-critical moment for the climate movement,” said Vice President Gore. “As our window to avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis rapidly closes, citizens from every country, city, and community must stand up to demand bold and unprecedented action toward a full and just transition to the clean energy economy of the future. Grassroots activism is one of our most powerful tools for securing a strong, global response to the climate crisis – the time is now to make your voices heard.”
Through live, pre-scheduled, and on-demand sessions, Climate Reality’s virtual global training will educate participants about the science behind the climate crisis and highlight the practical solutions in our hands today. Participants will learn directly from scientists, experts, Indigenous leaders, and grassroots organizers, and come away from the training with proven strategies to effectively mobilize their communities in the fight for a just and sustainable future.
Upon completion of the program, participants will join Climate Reality’s diverse global network of more than 37,000 activists around the world, including business leaders, elected officials, entrepreneurs, students, teachers, doctors, and everybody in between, all of whom are dedicated to accelerating bold, ambitious climate action.
Registration is now open to those over the age of 16. The training program will be primarily presented in English, though some video content will be available with French, Portuguese, and Japanese, and Mandarin captions. All attendees will need a device with Internet access to participate.
