The Climate Reality Project's I AM PRO SNOW Program Honored by The White House

Washington, D.C.—Today, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy honored The Climate Reality Project’s I AM PRO SNOW program and 100% Committed initiative for the campaign’s work to tackle climate change through sports. Climate Reality launched I AM PRO SNOW in 2012 to unite winter sports and mountain communities worldwide in fighting climate change. In 2016, I AM PRO SNOW began the 100% Committed campaign to help cities, resorts, and other businesses take action by committing to shift to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030 or sooner. Already, 17 partners have made the commitment and I AM PRO SNOW is currently actively engaging an additional 117 cities, resorts and other businesses worldwide with the goal of securing an additional 10 commitments to renewable electricity before the end of the year.
“It is an incredible privilege to have our work honored by the White House,” said Talya Tavor, program manager of I AM PRO SNOW. “But what’s more incredible is to have cities like Salt Lake City and Aspen, businesses like Ski Butlers, and ski resorts like LAAX (in Switzerland) get the credit that they deserve for showing true leadership in the face of climate change. Our mountain communities are at the frontlines of the climate crisis and now they are leading the charge for 100 percent renewable electricity.”
