“Under new leadership, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is sending an important signal to the nation: environmental justice is inextricably linked to the movement for climate action. We cannot properly address the climate crisis without first acknowledging the disproportionate impact fossil fuel pollution has on people of color. 

“We hope that the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and its newly named Subcommittees on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety and Chemical Safety, Waste Management, Environmental Justice, and Regulatory Oversight will work towards ambitious climate action. In the process, we urge them to uplift the voices of the climate activists and frontline communities working towards innovative, equitable solutions in their own backyards.
