Statement From Ken Berlin, President & Ceo Of The Climate Reality Project, On Hurricane Eta
“Climate Reality’s thoughts are with the people of Nicaragua and all communities directly impacted by Hurricane Eta, the latest storm to make landfall during a disturbingly active hurricane season.
“Just days after Super Typhoon Goni shattered world records, Hurricane Eta rapidly intensified on the other side of the world, becoming the latest in a series of strong and destructive Atlantic hurricanes. We must remember: this kind of back-to-back record-breaking is not normal. This is the climate crisis in action around the globe, and the world’s most vulnerable nations are too often caught directly in the path of these extreme weather events.
“The only way to prepare our countries, cities, and communities for the realities of a changing climate is to facilitate a decisive and global shift to clean energy, driven by the wealth and capital of developed nations responsible for the majority of emissions. Our future depends on it.”
