Sybil Azur
Mother of two, writer, filmmaker, and community organizer
Mother of two, writer, filmmaker, and community organizer Sybil Azur is a powerful force for change in Southern California.
After training in Pittsburgh in 2017, Sybil mobilized the Climate Reality Los Angeles chapter to work with partners and activists across LA to successfully push the Los Angeles Unified School District to commit to transitioning to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2030.
For many activists, committing the nation's second-largest public school district to clean energy would have been enough. But Sybil was only getting started. The victory in LA inspired the Green Schools Campaign, a youth-led movement with a mission to transition every school in the world to 100% renewable energy.
Today, Sybil serves as an adult ally for the campaign and continues to support LA Unified School District's push to electrify its fleet of 1,300 school buses. Along with her work on the ground, Sybil earned her MFA in screenwriting in 2021 to tell stories that inspire climate action.
