For decades, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been synonymous with oil. But the kingdom also has one of the greatest potentials for solar energy anywhere in the world. Hussam Ibrahim Khonkar was the first Saudi to graduate with a degree in solar engineering and is working today to design smart systems capable of withstanding intense heat, wind, and dust in order to help liberate the kingdom from its dependence on fossil fuels.
