The Human Impact of Climate Change: Personal Stories from Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia
Hosted by Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project, "24 Hours of Reality: The Cost of Carbon" visits Europe to see the cost of carbon firsthand in a continent losing its infrastructure and forced to adapt to climate change. In Fischbeck, Germany, a dike fails when the summer's 500-year flood hits, destroying 85 percent of the town's homes. In Russia, deadly smog and heat from raging wildfires descend on Moscow, choking the streets and leaving thousands suffering from all kinds of respiratory diseases. Extreme weather and rising waters mean an entire neighborhood in the Dutch town of Nijmegen must abandon homes built in the 18th century and relocate.
24 Hours of Reality: The #CostOfCarbon traveled across six continents and the poles, identifying the specific costs we're paying for carbon pollution. Celebrities, scientists, economists, and other experts joined former Vice President Al Gore and Climate Reality President and CEO Maggie L. Fox to explore the diverse impacts climate change is having around the world.
