Yuiko Mitani is the Program Manager of the Japan branch. She has a degree in Marketing and Communications from Nottingham Trent University (UK) with strong interests in the "ethical communications" and the relationship between the environmental issues and human rights. Yuiko has a unique set of experiences in corporate, non-profits and freelancing, including several years working as a consumer insights analyst and running her small non-profit organisation aimed to restore the marine ecosystem around seaweed forests across Japan (which she still does today, occasionally diving with fishers). She became a Climate Reality Leader in the 2019 Tokyo training, and in 2021 joined the team to establish the new branch in Japan. She is also actively engaged in youth empowerment, including facilitating the Japanese Cabinet Office’s annual youth exchange programmes on the environmental issues.
